Hoover Dam VIP Tour - Review

Up for an afternoon of comedy, education, history, sightseeing, nature, art? Plus homemade food, fudge and fun? Then sign up for the Hoover Dam Deluxe VIP Comedy Bus Tour. This six hour tour delivers the adventure of the Wild West, and much more.

You are treated like a Vegas star from the very beginning. Your day starts as the tour bus conveniently picks up from most major Casinos. Leaving Las Vegas, ride in plush comfort through the desert on the way to the Hoover Dam destination. In transit, you will be entertained by a nationally known comedian that is also your tour guide. You never know who it may be. Fun games are played on the bus then secret surprise bags are handed out.

At the Dam, exit the bus and begin your walking adventure. Follow your guide from the Arizona side of the dam to the Nevada side, and listen to narrated History stories along the way.

Stops include a walk across the top of the dam, 726 feet high over the edge, and directly across a 50 foot wide tunnel.

On the Nevada side of the Dam, are beautiful Art Deco sculptures, a sundial, and a map of the solar system to the precise moment the Dam was dedicated. There's a visitors center with souvenirs and snacks. Picnic tables are nestled among towering canyon red rock walls.

Next is the nature tour, at Lake Mead scenic overlook outside Hoover Dam and Black Canyon. Antelope squirrels can be seen burrowing on mountain sides, View the largest man made lake in the World and the trails that lead to mines where men once dug for treasures of the earth. You also get an education about and an unforgettable experience of ...the stink weed plant.

Bus leaves for lunch, and arrives at Matteo's in the historic Boulder Hotel. Food is homemade. After eating, go upstairs to the dam Museum. Learn more about the history of Hoover Dam, watch a movie, and view the vintage photo gallery.

Last stop is a walk down the street to an old fashioned Fudge Shoppe, for chocolate tasting.

Onboard the bus for the ride back to Las Vegas, tour coasts by present-day celebrity homes in Boulder City, then a drive thru the neighborhood consisting of still standing "dingbat homes" of the past, built for workers of Hoover Dam.

Tour guide talks more Las Vegas history, insider secrets, and includes a few other surprises. Welcome back to Sin City!
